Intersect Power will become the largest user of First Solar
2023-01-07
US-based solar module manufacturer First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) today announced deals to provide Intersect Power LLC with 4.9 GW of its DC modules between 2025 and 2029. This follows Intersect Power's 2.4 GW order in July 2022, raising their total orders for First Solar technology to a formidable 7.3 GW since 2019 and 2021.
Intersect Power will become the largest user of First Solar's Series 6 Plus and Series 7 modules, which will be implemented into the company's renewable energy projects like solar storage and green hydrogen. Of the new agreements, 1 GW was signed prior to October's earnings call by First Solar while 3.9 GW was agreed after it finished.
Intersect Power CEO, Sheldon Kimber, declared this is an "unprecedented opportunity" to reduce our carbon dioxide output while concurrently boosting local manufacturing and clean energy security. Georges Antoun, First Solar's Chief Commercial Officer, mentioned that Intersect Power has taken advantage of the long-term procurement and pricing stability it can offer.
