Irish renewable energy company NTR Plc has brought online an 86-megawatt (MW) wind farm situated in Sweden and procured a 70-MWp solar farm that is ready to be constructed in the United Kingdom. The EUR 115 million investment for Norra Vedbo Wind Farm, located in Southern Sweden, was done by Reichmuth Infrastructure Fund alongside NTR REIF II Fund. SEB furnished the debt financing for this project which installed 20 Vestas 4.3 MW turbines founded on rock anchors. Despite pandemic-related supply chain disruptions, the wind farm managed to achieve commercial operation as scheduled.
In addition, NTR has also acquired Medebridge Solar Farm in Essex from REG Power Management’s management team and other shareholders with full planning permission, grid connection and land agreements. NTR is currently in talks to organize a power purchase agreement for the farm that is projected to go-live by Q1 2024.
Chief Investment Officer of NTR, Anthony Doherty, commented on the unique nature of this project since its scale and proximity to London allow it to provide clean energy alternatives quickly to major corporations. Andrew Whalley, CEO of RPM mentioned the addition made by Medebridge Solar Farm near Ockendon Solar Farm which was sold to NTR last year. Currently, NTR manages 198 MW across four wind farms in the Nordic market.
