2023-02-06
DG Fuels LLC, the inventor of a low-CO2 life cycle emissions synthetic fuel system, has recently concluded an agreement to lease land in Aroostock County, Maine for the purpose of constructing their second sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility. The terrain, which was formerly part of the Loring Air Force Base close to Limestone and Caribou, encompasses 1,240 acres. With the availability of nearby hydroelectric power and regional timber and agricultural waste supplies, this plant will have an annual output capacity of 175 million gallons when completed. The project is slated to commence construction in mid-2024 with an estimated completion date at the end of 2027. Before revealing this news however, DG Fuels had already secured full offtake from their first installation in Louisiana.
In conjunction with the announcement, HydrogenPro AS (OSE:HYPRO) of Norway declared that they would be supplying around 1.7 GW of total electrolysers to power both facilities. DG Fuels is currently weighing up the option of delivering SAF to major airports on the East Coast including New York City's hubs.
This news demonstrates DG Fuels' commitment to providing sustainable aviation fuels and reducing global CO2 emissions - a goal at the forefront of everyone's minds during this time.
